L’etichetta, a forma di clessidra da utilizzare per le carni confezionate, utilizza un inchiostro speciale che cambia colore man mano che la carne invecchiando rilascia sempre più ammoniaca. In questo modo non solo i consumatori sono in grado di capire subito se la carne è fresca oppure no, ma quando il codice a barre è totalmente oscurato questo non viene più scansionato e quindi la carne non è più acquistabile.
